Privacy Policy for MasterSync
Effective Date: August 30, 2025
Introduction
MasterSync ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the MasterSync mobile application.
MasterSync was built with a core philosophy: your data belongs to you, not in someone else's cloud. We believe in empowering users to break free from cloud dependency and maintain complete control over their files by syncing directly to their own storage systems. Privacy isn't a feature—it's our foundation. Everything about MasterSync is designed to keep your data in your hands, on your devices, under your control.
🏠Self-Hosted Architecture: MasterSync is a self-hosted solution. All user accounts, files, and backups are stored on YOUR own server (Forge container). The app developer does not have access to, collect, store, or control any of your personal data, files, or account information. Your data never touches our servers—because we don't have any.
Information We Collect
Analytics and Crash Data (Optional & Anonymous)
You are in control: All analytics and crash reporting is entirely optional and can be disabled in the app's settings at any time.
When enabled, we collect only anonymous, non-identifying information through Firebase:
- Usage Analytics: Basic, anonymous information about app usage patterns and feature utilization
- Crash Reports: Technical information about app crashes to help us improve stability
- Performance Data: Anonymous app performance metrics to optimize functionality
No personal information is ever included in analytics or crash reports. This data is automatically deleted by Google after 14 months.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Personal Information: We do not collect names, email addresses, or any personal identifiers
- User Accounts: Your Forge account (username/password) is stored on YOUR server, not ours
- File Content: We do not access, read, or collect any of your files, photos, videos, or documents
- File Metadata: We do not collect file names, sizes, locations, or any file-related information
- Server Credentials: We do not collect or transmit your Forge/NAS passwords or connection details
- Device Information: We do not collect device identifiers, phone numbers, or contact information
How We Use Information
The limited analytics and crash data we collect is used solely to:
- Improve app stability and fix crashes
- Understand which features are most useful to optimize development
- Monitor app performance to ensure smooth operation
Data Storage and Security
Your Files and Data (Self-Hosted)
- Complete Control: All your files, user accounts, and backups are stored exclusively on YOUR Forge server
- No Cloud Storage: We do not operate any cloud servers or file storage infrastructure
- Your Infrastructure: You choose where to host Forge (TrueNAS, Docker, home server, etc.)
- Your Security: You control all security settings, encryption, and access controls
- Zero Developer Access: The developer cannot access, view, or control your self-hosted data
Analytics Data (Firebase)
Anonymous analytics and crash reports are processed by Google Firebase and are subject to Google's privacy policies. This data is automatically deleted after 14 months.

Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transfer any of your information to third parties for commercial purposes. The only data sharing that occurs is:
- Anonymous crash reports sent to Firebase to help us fix app issues
- Aggregated, anonymous usage statistics sent to Firebase to improve the app
Your self-hosted data is never shared because we never have access to it in the first place.
Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- File Access: You control which files the app can access through Android permissions
- Analytics Opt-out: You can disable analytics in Settings → Privacy at any time
- Self-Hosted Data: You can delete your Forge account and all files through your server's admin panel
- App Data: Uninstalling the app removes all local app data from your device
Data Retention
- Your Files: Remain on your device and personal storage indefinitely (under your control)
- App Settings: Stored locally until you uninstall the app or clear app data
- Analytics Data: Anonymous usage data is retained by analytics services according to their policies
- Crash Reports: Retained temporarily to fix issues, then automatically deleted
Children's Privacy
MasterSync does not collect any personal information from users of any age. The app operates entirely locally on your device and does not require any personal data input.
Changes to Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app and updating the "Effective Date."

- Or stop/delete the Forge container to remove all data from your infrastructure
- See our Data Deletion Guide for step-by-step instructions
Anonymous Analytics Data
- Disable analytics in app Settings → Privacy (stops future data collection)
